Dr. Joseph Kristan Joins the Atlantic Eye Team
This month, ophthalmologist Joseph Kristan, M.D., FAAO joins the family of eye care professionals at Atlantic Eye –literally family, since his father Ronald and brother Jonathan are currently among the ophthalmologists with the practice. In fact, Dr. Kristan attributes his inspiration to a charitable trip on which his dad provided cataract surgery to those who are less fortunate. “Vision is so important,” he says, “and I wanted to be a doctor who helps people by caring for their visual health.”
Dr. Kristan specializes in cataract, cornea, and refractive surgery, and comprehensive eye care. He is excited about the ever-growing variety of medical technologies and procedures available that allow him to serve patients with the most up-to-date and effective diagnoses and treatments. He enjoys learning about and teaching medical advances in vision care, and he has earned multiple teaching awards.
Joseph Kristan earned his MD from Stony Brook University School of Medicine, Stony Brook, NY. He completed a residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center, and a fellowhip in cornea, refractive surgery, and external disease from Columbia University/NY Presbyterian. He holds certification from the American Board of Ophthalmology. In his non-work hours, Dr. Kristan enjoys playing piano, running, exercise and yoga, and spending time with his wife, family and friends.
