TRULIGN Toric IOL

We Offer The Best Treatment Options For You.

What is TRULIGN Toric IOL?

TRULIGN® Toric IOL is a flexible IOL made of a proprietary advanced generation solid silicone. The term is usually used to describe specially designed soft contact lenses that correct astigmatism. Most TRULIGN® Toric contact lenses for astigmatism are indeed soft lenses— made either of a conventional hydrogel material or a highly breathable silicone hydrogel.

The TRULIGN® Toric IOL (Intraocular Lens) can now be used to correct astigmatism in refractive cataract surgery. For many years, corneal relaxing incisions have been helpful in reducing astigmatism. The TRULIGN® Toric IOL adds to the refractive cataract surgeon’s choices, and increases the level and accuracy of astigmatism correction.

Eyeglasses are easily lost or damaged, expensive to replace, and inconvenient to clean and maintain. The more active you are, the more eyeglasses interfere with your lifestyle. Most people don’t like the look of eyeglasses and prefer another type of vision correction, such as contact lenses. TRULIGN® Toric IOL, contact lenses are designed to correct astigmatism and are a good option for those patients that don’t like glass dependency.

Discuss what you need with your optician, who will find out about the variables that influence lens selection.

Benefits of TRULIGN Toric Contact Lenses

Whatever your eye condition, you will be able to choose from a range of options, which include frequent replacement or daily disposable varieties.

Anyone who values convenience should opt for daily disposables as they avoid the need to remember to place your lenses in cleaning fluid every evening. You can also opt for regular replacement varieties such as biweekly or monthly lenses, which can reduce the probability of contracting infections, and will rarely suffer from overuse as they are regularly replaced.

Choosing the right lens for you

Gas permeable lenses — The advantage of gas permeable lenses is that they are generally more rigid and keep their original shape. For some people, this means that their vision will be corrected more effectively than soft lens, but this does not hold in all cases.

Soft contact lenses — They are made of flexible plastics that allow oxygen to pass through to the cornea. Extended wear lenses allow you to sleep with them in and keep them in for varying intervals – depending on the brand and instructions.

Multifocal lenses —  If you suffer from presbyopia and astigmatism at the same time, multifocal toric lenses may well be the right choice. Multifocal lenses have multiple powers including bifocals, trifocals or progressive lenses.

Continuous wear lenses — Are made from silicone hydrogel, and they can be specially made to suit your prescription if needed. The advantage of extended wear lenses is that you can wear them continuously for up to a month, making them extremely convenient.
